how i can resolve a file corruption in a tape?

neotello
hi all!

I have a problem, i can't charge a tape. When i attempt to charge, i get a error. I have attempted do a dump_tape to the tape too, but i get other error. I search something in the syslog, and i find the follow error:

pcl xxx indx file has improper length as compared to the meta file, indicating possible file corruption

Does know somebody how i can resolve this corruption? can i create new files meta and indx analyzing the data file?

thank 2 all!!

A few questions..

Is the method to create the corruption reproducible ?
If so, can you please provide the steps.

What version of mhvtl are you using ?
What OS are you using ?
Can you provide the output of :
# cat /etc/*release
# uname -a

Do you have the syslog when the corruption occurred and are you able to share with me (private email is fine - Please use 'mhvtl2@gmail.com') Don't forget to gzip/bzip2 the syslog first ;)

Can you provide the output of "dump_tape -d -f <barcode>". Although based on the error, I don't think this command will provide any useful data - but still worth trying.
