This is an old pending issue I am revisiting ..
If I use e.g STK library and mix that with e.g HP LTO drive, then TSM detects the incorrect media type in the library as ECARTRIDGE instead of LTO ...As a result, it cannot use the media for the LTO drive.
Here is an example of my config:
