Next release..

Mark Harvey
This post was updated on .
With the number of git commits since the 0.18-17 release and the core changes with SCSI MODE SENSE/SELECT, LOG SENSE/SELECT and now media handing (REPORT DENSITY), I'm thinking of calling the next version 1.0..

The 'media handling' is going to change the config file in that the 'media loading rules' are now redundant. Unless anybody complains, the media load rules are hard-coded and will be enforced. Otherwise the 'REPORT DENSITY' data is useless.

The 'programmable early warning' added a little while ago is lacking in the extreme and needs to be fixed. I'll most likely wait until I release a version 1.0 and implement a better version post 1.0 release.

Major items on my post 1.0 release are
 - personality modules for library emulation
 - programmable early warning
 - Add QUANTUM tape personality modules (DLT7000, SDLT, SDLT220, SDLT320 & SDLT600)
 - Fix up fallout from MODE/LOG/REPORT DENSITY changes :)

Cheers

Re: Next release..

This patch is still work-in-progress, and is based against latest github HEAD.

report_density.diff

It will be basis for the 1.0 release - so any testing will be most welcome :)

All previous "media mount rules" are now ignored and the rules are hard-coded in each personality.
i.e. An LTO defined drive will "know" what sort of media it will handle and how.
This will mean it will be important for the users to correctly define the media type (either 'mktape' or media barcodes defined in library_contents.XX

Many thanks

I'll most likely release 1.0 tomorrow - A fathers day release

Sorry nia, it does break your web-gui - at least the version check is failing.

I'm looking into this and hopefully have a patch for you to go along with mhvtl v1.0.

To date, I've used NetBackup 6.5.6, 7.1 for both normal and encrypted backups & restores. Apart from filling my root file system, everything was smooth.

Cheers

No Problem. I will also look into a fix quickly as well as soon as I get back in town tomorrow or on Monday (Labor Day in the US)

Thanks for the heads up ...
