In an attempt to support MODE SUB-PAGE CODES in a more efficient fashion, I've moved the mode data from a simple array into a linked-list.
The re-work will not effect performance in any measurable way. Before I commit these patches, I'm posting the two patches here for comment and (hopefully) wider testing. You should see NO difference in behaviour !! I've not added any sub-page code MODE pages to return at this point in time. So, any testing will be confirmation that all works as before without any extra surprises. If you do encounter anything, please : - bump VERBOSE = 3 in /etc/mhvtl/mhvtl.conf, - restart the mhvtl daemons, - reproduce the error - forward the syslog for analysis (typically /var/log/messages). FWIW: I've tested these patches using 'sg_mode' & NetBackup 7.1 without any ill effects. Cheers Mark 0001-Restructure-mode-page-handling.patch 0002-Support-MODE-sub-pagecodes.patch |

Mark sorry - have to inform you, that I had to revert back to mhvtl_0.18-17_5b9bb4b from mhvtl_0.18-17_3d50311.
I know - you need logs (will try to collect them tomorrow); in the mean time - the reason for me downgrading was this error in Oracle Secure Backup, when trying to inventory tapes after 3d50311 install: "unable to open qlm connection - invalid cdb field" With version 5b9bb4b no problem. Perhaps it has something to do with this MODE PAGE rework. :j |

A patch kindly supplied by Sebastian has been applied a short while ago.
If possible, can you confirm this resolved the issue with OSB ? If not, the syslog (even if the 'mhvtl' verbose level is set to '1'). I would expect a request for a mode page I've fat-fingered in the rework, and the list of mode pages queried by OSB should assist in pinning down the problem. Cheers Mark |

Thank you (Sebastian, as well);
I am confirming that mhvtl_0.18-17_b85822a resolved issue with OSB inventory. :j |

Thanks for the confirmation.
Many thanks to Sebastian to :) Cheers Mark |

Mark, Sebastian
back to this problem with some notes: -version mhvtl_0.18-17_b85822a was OK with media inventory, but OSB backups were not able to write anything (they acted as running, but no data was added to datafiles) - I was in a rush before vacation, therefore I did not inform you about this behaviour - I downgraded to mhvtl_0.18-17_5b9bb4b and the backups were fine, during my days off. -after comming back from vacation I upgraded mhvtl_0.18-17_5b9bb4b to mhvtl_1.0.0 and I am confirming that OracleSecureBackup media inventory and backups are fine now. :j |
