[0:0:1:0]    disk    ATA      WDC WD5000AAKX-0 15.0  /dev/sdb  /dev/sg1
[3:3:0:0]    mediumx STK      L700             3.14  -         /dev/sg6
[3:3:1:0]    tape    STK      T10000A          1.46  /dev/st0  /dev/sg2
[3:3:2:0]    tape    STK      T10000A          1.46  /dev/st1  /dev/sg3
[3:3:3:0]    tape    STK      T10000A          1.46  /dev/st2  /dev/sg4
[3:3:4:0]    tape    STK      T10000A          1.46  /dev/st3  /dev/sg5

When i configure the library on a WIN2K8 R2 server using backup software(TSM/Netbackup) then drives are not recognized as a part of library.

As I have seen on the forum that from successful configuration of MHVTL, lsscsi -g gives output like

[2:6:0:0]    mediumx STK      L700             3.14  /dev/sch6  /dev/sg57
[2:6:1:0]    tape    STK      T10000A          1.46  /dev/st21  /dev/sg25
[2:6:2:0]    tape    STK      T10000A          1.46  /dev/st22  /dev/sg26
[2:6:3:0]    tape    STK      T10000A          1.46  /dev/st23  /dev/sg27
[2:6:4:0]    tape    STK      T10000A          1.46  /dev/st24  /dev/sg28
[2:6:5:0]    tape    STK      T10000A          1.46  /dev/st25  /dev/sg29

What I analyse while comparing the output of lsscsi -g is as below

my MHVTL-   lsscsi output
[3:3:0:0]    mediumx STK      L700             3.14  -         /dev/sg6

One i found on the forum
[2:6:0:0]    mediumx STK      L700             3.14  /dev/sch6  /dev/sg57

The difference is of /dev/sch6, wherein my MHVTL lsscsi output should give
[3:3:0:0]    mediumx STK      L700             3.14  /dev/sch3         /dev/sg6

Now if anybody could help me out finding where I am doing any mistake or the configuration is wrong.

Re: MHVTL configuration issue

Mark Harvey
I had the mis-fortune to have to setup Win2k8 the other day with mhvtl devices defined as T10000B

Oracle now requires a 'magic number' to download the required Windows tape drivers.

My solution was to change device.conf and define IBM ULT3582-TD4 instead of STK T10000B

The library_contents.30 needs to change media id from TA to L4 if you change drive types too.

Cheers

Oops, a typo in the previous post..

That should be:
ULT3580-TD4

instead
ULT3582....

I'm not sure if this isn't going to help:

http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Search.aspx?q=oracle%20tape

I haven't tried to configure Oracle/Sun drives, because I'm testing mostly HP stuff, but I have time-to-time runnings with Windowses.

All best,

I Tried all config but none of them is working with IBM TSM 6.1.  I am currently thinking of another option.
