Drivers

Albatross
Hi,
I have installed mhvtl 1.1 version without any difficulty, Also installed NB6.5 in linux and when configuring devices I am able to get 8 drives and 2 robots , But I am not able to get the drives for STK L80 tape library with T10000B drives . These drives are greyed out in NB window along with ULT3580-TD5.

Can any one provide me llnk where we can download the drivers from... Any suggestion would be appreciated...

Which OS did you deployed in your machine?
If your machine is installed with 32 bit OS, Install the Symantec Netbackup device driver, please

Re: Drivers

You need to upgrade the device_mappings file on the master server.

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH55064

Once done, forward the output of scan again.

Re: Drivers

Hi Mark,

Thanks a lot it worked out....find the output of scan command....

scan.txt

But when I started Backup its throwing 96 error, coz  after robot inventory the media found  is DLT and Hcart  but the drives are of different HCART3 .So changed the drives type  to DLT ..... But still backup didn't go well again error with storage units ,

So deleted storage units and created manually  STORAGE DEVICE as DLT...now backup is running fine...

Do we need to every time change the STORAGE UNIT and drives TYPE as I did in the above manner every time after we inventory robots, Or is there any other way to solve it ...

Also can you tell me whether can we change the default tape size to 5GB, I tried it but it still taking 500MB, I have stopped mhvtl and started to take the changes but failed to configure tape to 5GB.....

please do reply.....

waiting for ur valuable reply..........................

Re: Drivers

DLT vs HCART

Ok, it doesn't really matter what the drives and media are defined as - as long as they are the same.

But LTO & STK are typically hcart, hcart2 or hcart3. (1/2 inch wide media)

You need to setup media generation rules and barcode rules so the inventory will do the right thing. Don't forget about the cleaning media.

Re: tape size.
The tape size will be effective IF the media doesn't exist and the media has to be created. i.e. Remove the virtual media and restart. New media will be created with new size specified. Or run the mktape cmd manually.
